Destination ElkQuest. Only a short 20-minute ride west of beautiful, historic Durango, Colorado, you are transported into a pristine, prime, picture-perfect elk habitat that will take your breath away. Approximately 150 to 200 elk comprise the ElkQuest herd at any particular time on the 1,500 acres of private preserve.

You'll see cows, calves, and of course, the bulls. Thus, ElkQuest offers a true hunting adventure for every type of hunter whether you're a rifleman, hand-gunner, muzzleloader, archer, or a crossbowman. Exciting, heart-pounding opportunities with extraordinary flexibility to meet your schedule, experience level, physical capability, and ... budget are available to you.

When you are not pursuing your dream bull, or after you have tagged your legacy trophy, take time to enjoy the surrounding area. Durango is a true Old West Town, where the people will welcome you and help you feel at home. There are endless possibilities for recreation, sight seeing, and relaxation.

The 1,500 acre preserve is free of the devastating scourge of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) and has been double-fenced in effort to provide continued protection to both the herd and environment from CWD. Every elk taken from the estate is tested for CWD assuring that you take a home a healthy animal. Your hunt at ElkQuest has an impact beyond your personal adventure.

Proceeds from each hunt are dedicated to helping find a solution to CWD.

In this capacity, Barry is in charge of the development and management of ElkQuest's resources and oversees the daily operation of the program. Dyar holds a BS degree in Biology from Ft. Administrative Director
Sharla is responsible for the daily office operations of ElkQuest. With over twenty years experience in non-profit organizations she coordinates events, fundraising, and volunteers. In addition, she manages compliance issues, public relations, communication, and computer data for ElkQuest. A Durango native, Sharla's love of the outdoors and wildlife are a perfect combination with her commitment to ElkQuest.
